36,000 – $38,000 a year Unique Vacations, Inc., the affiliate to the Worldwide Representatives for Sandals, Beaches, and Grand Pineapple Resorts, is currently looking for a Media Relations Coordinator. Sandals & Beaches Resorts are located on 7 idyllic island destinations spanning the Caribbean – Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Bahamas, Barbados, Grenada, Turks & Caicos, and Antigua. Each resort offers the new standard of exotic luxury and unmatched beauty and delivers far more than any other five-star resort on the planet because at Sandals and Beaches, everything you could possibly imagine is included and then some – idyllic settings, pristine white-sand beaches, thrilling water-sports, land sports so there’s always something fun to do, more bars and entertainment, pampering at the Red Lane Spa, plus Discovery Dining at a vast array of gourmet restaurant options from around the world. JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinate media requests and on-island itineraries for both individual and group press trips. Requests will come direct as well as through the various Public Relations Agencies worldwide. Accompany individual or group press trips when needed. Closely monitor trade and consumer publications for press clippings and results. Save daily clippings, share with relevant departments/resorts and compile in weekly distribution to the company. Keep on-going record of all media visits on the annual Media Report and all major events on the PR Calendar. Keep a weekly agenda of all ongoing projects & top coverage. Organize/save all agency reports, product updates, new photography, press releases, etc. Update all agencies with new materials (press releases, product updates, photography, and brochures) as appropriate. Work in conjunction with various Public Relations agencies and departments to implement and execute media-related queries, events and visits. Liaise with all resort General Managers, PR Officers and Sandals & Beaches Resorts offices to facilitate high profile visits and on island itineraries and ensure VIP treatment. Follow up with Resorts and writer after visit to ensure a successful visit. Monitor social media channels during journalists’ visits for coverage and log/save. Draft weekly blog posts. Review, edit, save & distribute internally all new press materials from the agency of record, including press releases, advertorials, weekly trade newsletter, etc. Compile Comprehensive Coverage Grid each month, from agency reports. Update all internal department/resorts/corporate office on new awards received, top press coverage, etc. Organize all press clips and TV mentions for annual results video and log as appropriate. Compile end of year media reports, featuring weekly newsletters, top press clippings, etc. Log major events/campaigns/projects as they occur in annual Media Results presentation. Liaise with Sandals Resorts offices, regarding customs clearance for all film equipment related to a media visit or event. Draft copy for advertorials, web pages, emails and company correspondence as required. Assist Director with crisis or corporate communication as required. Responsible for assembly and maintenance of all Press Materials. Ensure that proper quantities are available at all times in the department. Fulfill all media requests for press materials (i.e.: press kits, photos, Results Videos, Broll, etc.). Responsible for upkeep and maintenance of the Sandals and Beaches Media Website to include updating information daily, weekly and monthly when needed. Ensure news releases are up to date on the Public Drives as well as on the Sandals and Beaches Media website. Assist with department promotions and on site event planning and execution (i.e.: New Resort/Product Openings, concert events, World Travel Awards, etc.) Foster creative ideas and a team environment. Assist the Public Relations Director/Manager whenever and wherever necessary. Able to travel as needed and available for last minute travel. Travel required may be up to 40%. Candidate must be a self-starter that is able to multi-task, work under high pressure, tight deadlines and work with minimal supervision. EXPERIENCE Outlined below are the academic qualifications and length and type of experience deemed necessary by Unique Vacations Inc. in order to perform the role of Media Relations Coordinator competently. Education: Four-year college degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field.
